FIAD launches its Manifesto at BOZAR screening

The International Federation of Film Distributors’ Associations (FIAD) launches its manifesto today at the screening of the movie “And Then We Danced” at the BOZAR in Brussels.

FIAD has embraced the changing audiovisual market and is committed to fostering a strong film distribution sector. Our manifesto for a diverse and sustainable audiovisual sector is underpinned by six core principles. All six core principles are ultimately in the best interests of consumers and citizens across Europe, yielding greater choice and plurality. Our common responsibility for the coming years will be to provide the right conditions to preserve Europe’s cultural diversity.

The screening is organised in partnership with the International Union of Cinemas (UNIC), Europa Distribution, the Federation of European Film and TV Directors (FERA), and Belgian distributor Cinemien.

The movie selected, distributed by Cinemien, is “And then we danced”; it was selected as Swedish entry for Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards and its Levan Gelbakhiani won the award “Heart of Sarajevo” for best actor at the 25th Sarajevo Film festival.

The prestigious location will host industry stakeholders, policy-makers and the wider public for an evening dedicated to experiencing the big screen and discovering great European productions.

For this purpose, FIAD is launching today its manifesto, which aims at gathering in one place information about distributors, about FIAD and about our goals for the future. We are happy that it makes its first appearance on such an optimal date, in the presence of all the people we share our work with.
